PROCESS FOR REMOVING DUST FROM A DUST-LADEN GAS USING A GAS-PERMEABLE FILTER ELEMENT ARRANGED IN A CONTAINER

In the known processes, the dust deposited on the outer surface othe filter elements (2) is removed by compressed gas pulses which impinge on the interior of the filter elements and which are released solely as a function of a measured pressure differential across the filter elements. In certain cases, cleaning pulses are released prematurely and unnecessarily as a result of variations in the gas flow rate. To effect the cleaning operation as a function of the amount of dust deposited, the flow rate of the dust-laden gas is determined in addition to the pressure differential across the filter elements, and the cleaning pulse is released when the ratio of the pressure differential to the flow rate, which increases with time during the formation of the dust layer, reaches at least one experimentally determined lower limiting value (S1). The process is particularly suitable for removing dust from flue gases from pressurized or atmospheric fluidized bed reactors.
