In a drive slip-regulating system and in particular the establishment of a reference quantity for slip regulation for an all-wheel drive motor vehicle, the drive torque is determined from various measured values and from this the maximum possible instantaneous acceleration of the vehicle is derived. The increase in the reference quantity is then limited by this maximal possible acceleration.
