The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for applying a liquid fertiliser to a useful agricultural area, in which a travelling speed is recorded and the mass output is controlled as a function of this. The travelling speed is picked up on a non-driven wheel and then, by means of a computer (22), on the one hand the discharge quantity of the liquid manure and on the other hand, as a function of this, the spreading width are controlled.
