In the case of a masonry-wall guide (3), the longitudinal main body (6), which is to be arranged along a vertical masonry-wall corner, has two abutment legs (8, 9) which are each assigned to one of the two masonry walls which meet at said corner. The main body (6) is held in its use position by means of an anchoring device, the anchoring pieces (11, 12) of which are anchored, at a horizontal spacing from the main body (6), in the courses of masonry blocks which have already been laid. The anchoring pieces (11, 12) can, with the aid of a tension element (17, 18), each be braced in the direction of the main body (6), which is supported against the masonry-wall corner. An adjusting device for the vertical alignment of the main body (6) is formed by adjustment elements (35, 36) which are arranged on the two abutment legs (8, 9), can be displaced in the direction of the courses of masonry blocks which have already been laid, and butt against the masonry wall facing them. In order to fasten an alignment cord (4, 5) which determines the progression of the masonry wall, the invention provides a cord-retaining means (7) which can be adjusted in the longitudinal direction of the main body (6). <IMAGE>
