<p>The drum filter comprises a pressure-proof body (16) with its inlet (1), outlet (2) and drain pipe (11) as well as a rotating drum (4) which is journalled inside said body (16) and provided with a filter surface (3). The filter is fitted with a drain valve (10) controlled by a pressure-difference switch and with means (7, 8, 9) for retaining the rotating motion of drum (4). Drum (4) is provided with a flange (14) which, together with a gable (17) of body (16), builds an annular space (6) which is in communication with a space surrounding said drum (4). The cleaning of a filter is based on a pressure loss occurring in the filter, which causes the development of a pressure difference between the opposite sides of the flange (14). Depending on the direction and magnitude of the pressure difference, the drum (4) is prevented from rotating or is in rotating motion, which effects the cleaning of the filter surface (3).</p> |
