PURPOSE:To facilitate the adjustment of an angle of incidence and sensitivity, by providing an edge sensor for detecting an end rim of a plate desired to detect a flaw in an ultrasonic flaw detector utilizing a plate wave to move a probe in the direction of propagating the plate wave together with the edge sensor. CONSTITUTION:An edge sensor 2 is mounted on a support beam 10 comprising a screw rod connected to a motor M3 through a support rod 15. On the other hand, a support block 11 is screwed down on a support beam 8 comprising a screw rod and a probe 1 is mounted through a hanger 13. The hanger 13 is screwed down on a tubular part of a rotary column 9 and made liftable with the rotation of a motor M2. A receiving element of the probe 1 is made rotatable with the rotation of a motor M4. The probe 1 and the edge sensor 2 are moved together with the rotation of a motor M1 and then, the motor M1 is stopped at a position where the edge sensor 2 detects an end rim of a plate 7 to be inspected. Then, the probe 1 is brought into contact with the plate 7 being inspected to adjust an angle of incidence and sensitivity. |
