PURPOSE:To enhance activity for NOX by separately arranging both a coated alumina layer added with Ce contg. Pt or the like and the coated alumina layer consisting of alumina added with La contg. Pd or the like and zirconia added with Pr on a carrier. CONSTITUTION:Both a layer carried with one or two kinds of Pt, Pd and Ph as a catalytic component on a coated alumina layer consisting of activated alumina added with cerium and cerium oxide and a layer carried with at least one kind of Pd and Ph as the catalytic component on the coated alumina layer consisting of activated alumina added with lanthanum, partially stabilized zirconia added with Pr and lanthanum oxide are separately arranged on a carrier to form a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas. In this catalyst, activity for NOX is enhanced and Pd of low cost is effectively utilized and also the activity of three-elemental catalyst is enhanced. |
