The inflator has a resilient bulb with a valve housing (12) having an outlet and containing a one-way gate to allow air discharge when the valve is squeezed. A second one way valve communicates with ambient air and allows air into the bulb (10) to allow it to recover its shape after being squeezed. A passage in the valve housing bypasses both one-way valves and is connected to a pressure release valve (18) on the bulb. The valve can be connected to the bypass passage by a flexible tube.
