A method for assaying immunoglobulins, particularly IgG or IgM in accessible bodily fluids, particularly saliva, which comprises immobilising anti-IgA, IgG or IgM on a substrate, exposing the substrate to the fluid, then either (a) exposing the substrate to a selected labelled antigen, or preferably (b) exposing the substrate to a selected antigen then to a selected labelled antibody. A property of the labelled antigen or antibody is then detected. The invention is demonstrated in the assay of IgG and IgM in saliva produced in response to Rubella, Hepatitis A and B, AIDS, Measles and Mumps. |
