NEW MATERIAL:An alkaline cellulase K-580 having molecular weight peaks at about 18,000 and about 50,000 and having the following enzymological properties. Action, active to cellulosic materials such as carboxymethyl cellulose, cellulose, filter paper and Avicel to dissolve the substance and form reducing sugars; active pH and optimum pH, active pH range is 3-12.5 and optimum pH range is 7-10; pH stability, stable at pH 4.5-12; optimum temperature, active temperature range is 15-80 deg.C and optimum temperature is 65 deg.C; influence of metal ion, inhibited by Hg<2+> and activated by Ba<2+>, Ca<2+>, Co<2+> and Cd<2>; inhibitor, the activity is not inhibited by protease, surfactants and chelating agents. USE:Useful as a compounding component for detergent composition. PREPARATION:Bacillus sp KSM-580 (FERM P-9013) is cultured in a neutral medium containing carbon source, nitrogen source, etc., and the objective enzyme is separated from the disintegrated liquid of the cultured cells. |
