PURPOSE:To contract a chip area and to speed up a data reading/writing cycle by arranging data selecting means near I/O buffers and near I/O driver and supplying the data of plural bits to one data bus with time division. CONSTITUTION:At the time of reading out data, data are selected from corresponding 2<i> I/O buffers 11A-11H and successively outputted to corresponding data buses 13A-13D, and at the time of writing data, data on the corresponding data buses 13A-13D are successively and selectively supplied to corresponding 2<i> I/O buffers 11A-11H, provided that (i) is an natural number >=1. At the time of reading out data, the reading data consisting of plural bits outputted to plural data buses 12A-12D are successively selected and serially outputted to the outside, and at the time of writing the data, the external serial data are successively selected and supplied to the plural data buses 13A-13D. Consequently, both the contraction of a chip area at the time of forming an integrated circuit and the speed-up of data reading/writing cycle operation can be satisfied.
