PURPOSE:To improve the surface quality of an iron steel drawn wire by treating an iron and steel wire rods by the surface adjusting agent solution contg. a titanium contg. compound colloid. CONSTITUTION:Iron and steel wire rods are treated by the surface adjusting agent solution contg. a titanium contg. compound colloid after executing descaling treatment or descaling treatment and phosphate conversion treatment. The titanium contg. compound is composed of the reaction product of the titanium contg. compound and an alkaline phosphate. The density of the titanium contg. compound colloid in the surface adjusting agent solution is 0.001-0.5g/l expressed in terms of titanium weight. and 0.1-50g/l expressed in terms of alkaline phosphate weight.
