PURPOSE:To improve the running durability and electromagnetic conversion characteristic of a magnetic layer simultaneously and to improve runnability by incorporating inorg. granular particles having >=5 Mohs' hardness subjected to a coating treatment on the surface into the magnetic layer and increasing the existence ratio thereof near the surface of the magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic layer formed by dispersing ferromagnetic material powder in a binder is provided on a nonmagnetic base. The magnetic layer is formed by incorporating the inorg. granular particles (polishing agent) subjected to the coating treatment on the surface and having >=5 Mohs' hardness therein in such a manner that the existence ratio of the inorg. granular particles is large near the surface of the magnetic layer. The excellent electromagnetic conversion characteristic and running durability are thereby provided and the high practicability is provided.
