PURPOSE:To obtain a remedy for pancytopenia to cause abrupt increase in number of blood platelets and to improve bleeding tendency, containing a compound having prostaglandin E1 activity as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:A remedy for pancytopenia containing prostaglandin E1 (hereinafter abbr. as PGE1) or a derivative thereof as an active ingredient. A compound having PGE1 activity, for example, is administered in a mode of cyclodextrin inclusion preparation or a mode of preparation of fat emulsification of the compound. Administration period is in the case of reducing tendency of number of blood platelets and target of administration is mammals such as human or bovine of pancytopenia such as idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura or liver cirrhosis.
