NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by the formula and having the following physico-chemical properties. Molecular formula; C28H42O4. Elementary analysis (%); C, 75.97; H, 9.56; N, 0. Molecular weight; 442 (measured by mass spectrometry). Melting point; 198.9 deg.C. Specific rotatory power; [alpha]D<25>=-60.8 deg. (C=1.0, CHCl3). Solubility; readily soluble in methanol, ethanol, chloroform and acetone, soluble in ethyl acetate, toluene and water and sparingly soluble in hexane. Properties of the substance; white needle-like crystal and neutral substance. Color reaction; positive to iodine reaction, etc. USE:An analgesic agent, hypotensive agent and antifungal agent. PREPARATION:A microorganism, belonging to the genus Penicillium and capable of producing UCY1003 [e.g. Penicillium paxilli KAC-1843 (FERM P-8581)] is cultivated at 23-28 deg.C and pH 5-7 for 1-7 days, preferably by a submerged spinner culture method. |
