PURPOSE:To eliminate shock caused by a joint part and to improve the quality of a cast billet by opening pinch rolls, when the joint part of a dummy bar and the cast billet passes through the pinch rolls, and executing drawing of the cast billet by the other pinch rolls. CONSTITUTION:At the initial stage in which the pinch rolls 4, 5 together hold the dummy, bar 3, the pinch rolls 4, 5 roll down the dummy bar 3 at high pressure. When the joint part of the dummy bar 3 and the cast billet 2 is approached to the pinch rolls 4, by information of a detecting means, hydraulic pressure of the pinch rolls 4 are released, and the joint part is continuously drawn by the pinch rolls 5 without receiving rolling down of the pinch rolls 4. Next, after passing through the pinch rolls 4, the low hydraulic pressure is loaded to the pinch rolls 4 and the cast billet 2 is held and drawn by using together with the pinch rolls 5. Successively, when the joint part is approached to the pinch rolls 5, the rolls are released as the same way as the above and the joint part is passed through. After that, the pinch rolls 4, 5 together hold and draw the cast billet 3 by low pressure. Therefore, the shock caused by seal material 8 is eliminated.
