ZEOLITE-ACTIVE CARBON COMPOSITE MATERIAL HAVING ANTIBACTERIAL, MILDEW-PROOFING AND COD LOWERING FUNCTION AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composite material having antibacterial, mildew- proofing and COD lowering functions, further preventing functions on moisture absorption and moisture condensation, by bonding power or granules of zeolite and active carbon retaining a metallic ion such as silver or copper having germicidal action and thermally-sticking fibers by fusing. CONSTITUTION:Powder or granules of zeolite or active carbon retaining a metallic ion such as silver, copper and zinc having germicidal action is blended with thermally sticking fibers (preferably polyester fibers having <=300 deg.C softening point) and preferably with a binder and the blend is press molded at >= the softening point of the thermally sticking fibers to give a zeolite-active carbon composite material having antibacterial, mildew-proofing and COD lowering functions. Preferably an inorganic hygroscopic agent is added to the composite material during production. The zeolite-active carbon composite material has excellent mechanical strength and water resistance and is suitable as interior material for room with high humidity.
