PURPOSE:To obtain a hair dyeing agent consisting of a first agent comprising an aqueous mixture containing acid dye and a second agent comprising an aqueous mixture containing no acid dye, adjusted to stronger acidity than the first agent, comprising a thickening agent and a solving at least in one of the agents. CONSTITUTION:A hair dyeing agent containing acid dye consisting of a first agent comprising an aqueous mixture containing 0.01-3pts.wt. acid dye, adjusted to pH 4-8 and a second agent comprising an aqueous mixture containing no acid dye, adjusted to pH 1.5-4, comprising a thickening agent and a solvent at least in one of the first and the second agents, exhibiting pH 2-4 in blending of both the agents, having excellent shelf stability and dyeing power and no harm to human body. Preferably the thickening agent (e.g. tragacanth gum) and the solvent (e.g. benzyl alcohol) are added to both the first and the second agent and further the second agent is preferably mixed with a hair protecting agent (e.g. amino acid).
