PURPOSE:To obtain an apparatus, having excellent piston flow properties, equipped with plate heat transfer units radially arranged around a rotating shaft in a space part of each stage of horizontally extending agitating blades provided in the rotating shaft and capable of effectively removing heat of polymerization reaction or uniformly heating a polymerization reaction solution. CONSTITUTION:An apparatus, consisting of a vertical cylindrical vessel 1 having an inlet 2 and outlet 3 for a reaction solution at both ends and rotating shaft 7 provided in the vertical direction the interior of the above-mentioned vessel 1, the afore-mentioned rotating shaft 7 provided with horizontally extending agitating blades 12 in plural stages and many plate heat transfer nits 14, having a heating medium passage 15 from the outer wall part and radially arranged around the rotating shaft 7 and capable of passing a reaction solution through gaps of each plate heat transfer unit 14. The rotting shaft 7 in the vessel 1 is preferably an internal hollow body having an outside diameter (d) thereof within the range of d=0.3-0.6D based on the inside diameter (D) of the vessel. A heating medium jacket is preferably provided on the outer periphery of the vessel 1.
