EXAMPLE:3'7'-Dimethoxy-3-methylspiro(1',4'-benzoxazine-2,2'-benzothiaz oline). USE:A recording material, rich in change of color tone, and having high molar extinction coefficient, superior durability and heat stability. PREPARATION:For example, 3-methyl-2-methoxymethylbenzothiazolium toluenesulfonate is reacted with 2-nitroso-3-methoxyphenol in an ethanol solvent in the presence of a base, such as pyridine, to afford the exemplified compound.
