PURPOSE:To form a convenient optical functional membrane, by integrating the membrane having an optical function taking out a necessary wavelength component from a radiation component with a membrane having a gas detecting function. CONSTITUTION:An optical functional membrane is provided to the glass bulb of a halogen lamp 1. This optical functional membrane is formed by a membrane composed of at least one kind of a component selected from a metal, metal oxide, metal fluoride and metal sulfide, for example, a membrane having an optical function obtained by the vacuum vapor deposition of TiO2 or SiO2 and providing a gas detection layer detecting O2, CO and H2 thereon. Only the necessary wavelength component in the radiation component from the halogen lamp 1 is taken out by the membrane having the optical function to irradiate the gas to be detected outside the lamp. The concn. of the gas is detected from the resistance between the electrodes 8, 9 of the gas detection layer corresponding to the concn. of the gas. Since the membrane having the optical function taking out only the necessary wavelength component and the gas detection layer are integrated, the lamp can be used as the heat source for the gas detection layer and the structure of the apparatus can be simplified.
