PURPOSE:To compensate unfavorable influences due to the delay in a signal transmission and the deterioration of a waveform by detecting the transmission delay quantity of a signal from a camera head to a signal processing part and controlling the timing of the signal processing circuit with the detecting output. CONSTITUTION:A camera head 10 and a signal processing part 12 are connected by a cable 14. The phase delaying quantity of a signal from the camera head 10 up to the signal processing part 12 is detected by a phase comparator 38, the phase of the pulse of a timing generator 32 is controlled by the output of the phase comparator 38, therefore, the processing timing of the signal processing circuit 30 is always suitably controlled. Since the driving pulse of a solid-state image pickup element 20 is generated by a driving pulse generator 22 in the camera head 10, it is not necessary to provide a matching circuit to compensate the deterioration of the waveform in the transmission of a driving pulse in the signal processing part 12 and the constitution of the signal processing part 12 is simplified.
