PURPOSE:To accurately measure the distance of a body to be measured without contacting by detecting the body to be measured being at a specific distance from whether or not the photodetection pattern of a photodetection part and the pattern of reflected laser light overlap with each other. CONSTITUTION:Laser light from a laser light source 21 is projected on the body 18 to be measured and its reflected laser light is photodetected by a rough photodetection part 29 and a fine photodetection part 30. Then when a measurement lever 14 is moved to put a laser light image in the hole 29a in the center of the rough photodetection part 29, the fine photodetection part 30 starts detection. When the reflected laser light image is right on the optical axis K2, it is considered that the measurement point of the body 18 to be measured is accurately at the focus position of a lens 25, so the state wherein the body 18 to be measured and a constant distance are at the specific distance is detected. The measured distance is the focal length of a lens 25, so the distance is freely set by selecting the lens 25.
