PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution and reduce the cost by constituting a single memory in and from which a second digital video signal to be a subscreen is written and read, of a single memory having the memory cell array constitution. CONSTITUTION:With respect to a memory 6 having the memory cell array constitution which has a storage capacity corresponding to four fields or above, write positions of signals of first and second fields of a second digital video signal 43 are designated by a write address to discriminate four-field components of signal. Similarly, a read address is designated to select a second digital video signal 43 having the same field number as a first digital video signal 33 and the signal 43 is read out at a desired timing. Thus, the read/write control of the memory 6 is simplified, and switching means by which the digital video signal 43 inputted to the memory 6 selects the memory 6 and switching means by which the memory from which the signal should be read out is selected are unnecessary.
