PURPOSE:To facilitate the separation of divinylbenzene by forming a clathrate complex by bringing a mixture containing divinylbenzene into contact with biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxylic acid tetracyclohexylamide and crystallizing out the complex. CONSTITUTION:A mixture containing divinylbenzene such as a mixture containing m-divinylbenzene, p-divinylbenzene, ethylvinylbenzene and biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxylic acid tetracyclohexylamide are brought into contact, preferably in an organic solvent such as an other, glycol, benzene or hexane to form the clathrate complex. Then, the complex is crystallized out and heated under reduced pressure to eliminate divinylbenzene easily. The biphenyl-2,2'- dicarboxylic acid tetracyclohexylamide can be reused.
