PURPOSE:To obtain the titled beads generating little soot when flattened out in hot water pouring, beautiful in the cast surface, by making an inert gas exist in pre-expanded beads either during or after pre-expansion of a synthetic resin. CONSTITUTION:The objective beads can be obtained by making an inert gas (pref., nitrogen, argon, fluorohydrocarbon, helium or carbon dioxide) exist in pre-expanded beads either during or after pre-expansion of a synthetic resin (e.g., of polystyrene-, polyolefin-base). For example, either during or after said pre-expansion, an inert gas is made to exist in pre-expanded beads followed by coating the surface of the resultant pre-expanded beads with a matter capable of generating inert gas by heating (e.g., sodium bicarbonate).
