PURPOSE:To isolate HBe antigen by adsorbing antigens relating to hepatitis B virus in plasma on an adsorbent and treating with an eluent. CONSTITUTION:Antigens relating to hepatitis B virus (HBeAg) in plasma are adsorbed on an adsorbent (the volume ratio of the plasma to the adsorbent is 10-50) and treated with an eluent to isolate HBeAg. The adsorbent is a variety of porous materials such as sintered calcium phosphate, for example, hydroxy-apatite, tricalcium diphosphate, solid acid such as silica-alumina, cation- exchange resin such as IRC-84. A practical adsorbent has particle sizes of 20-60 mesh. The eluent is preferably, for example, sodium chloride solution, aqueous surfactant solution, aqueous sodium deoxybile acid. The isolated HBeAg is further subjected pretreatment and used as a starting substance for production of vaccine.
