A human carcinoma-associated antigen which has an estimated molecular weight of approx. 43000 and an isoelectric point in the range of approx. 5.4-6.2, and which has at least one epitope which reacts with a monoclonal antibody which is produced by the human hybridoma cell line B9165 (ECACC 87040201), or an analogue thereto, can be used as a diagnostic or therapeutic agent, for example for diagnosing or treating a human carcinoma. An antibody which is prepared against this antigen can be used, in a corresponding manner, for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. <IMAGE>
