摘要 PURPOSE:To take an accurate measurement in safety by performing measuring operation while an ultrasonic wave transmitter and receiver is dipped and set in a container filled with inert liquid on the top surface of a dangerous substance storage tank, and performing remote operation in a safety area. CONSTITUTION:This measuring method measures the thickness of deposit 4 by measuring the echo of a sent ultrasonic wave while the ultrasonic-wave transmitter and receiver 7 is set on the top surface of a floating roof which floats over a tank body 2 across a pontoon 5. For the purpose, water 9 as inert liquid is stored by a sufficient amount in the container 8 which is movable on the top surface of the floating roof 6, the ultrasonic-wave transmitter and receiver 10 which is not a special explosion proof type is dipped sufficiently in the water 9, and a cable 11 which is set and connected in a watertight state is connected to a measuring instrument 12 which is set previously in a safe area B outside a dangerous area A to take a measurement through remote operation. In this case, the ultrasonic-wave transmitter and receiver 10 is dipped sufficiently in the water which is the inert liquid, so sufficiently safe measuring operation is secured.
