PURPOSE:To permit two or more layer membranes to accumulate through the descending and ascending of a substrate in a single operation by causing a plurality of interfaces to be formed in a tank and then monomolecular membrane to spread thereon. CONSTITUTION:Brominated methylene is used as an oil phase 4 at the bottom and water as a water phase 3 above the former to form an oil-water surface and an air-water interface. In the oil-water interface, stearic acid is allowed to spread with a chloroform solution having a concentration of 0.05mg/cc to form a monomolecular membrane 5. In the air-water interface, arakydinic acid is permitted to spread with a benzene solution having a concentration of 1mg/cc to form a monomolecular membrane 5. The membranes are compressed with a barrier 1 and these compressed membranes are permitted to develop into a cumulative coating on a glass substrate by causing the glass substrate to ascend and descend along the surface vertically. Under this design, the substrate penetrates through a plurality of interfaces in a single ascending and descending trip of the substrate. Therefore, if the monomolecular membrane is left arranged in each surface, these membranes are to be accumulated at the same time.
