<p>PURPOSE:To simplify a manufacturing process, to save manhours, and to facilitate automation by a method wherein a light-emitting element and neighboring photodetecting element are coupled by a tie-bar before it is separated from a lead frame and then the tie-bar is so bent that the two elements face each other as prescribed. CONSTITUTION:Light-emitting elements 3 and photodetecting elements 4 are alternately installed on islands 2 linked by a tie-bar 7 to a lead frame 1. The electrodes of the light-emitting elements 3 and photodetecting elements 4 are connected to leads 5 nearest to the islands 2 with bonding lines 6. Next, each of the light-emitting elements 3 and photodetecting elements 4 is separately sealed in a transparent resin 8, disconnection is accomplished from the lead frame 1, with a light-emitting element 3 remaining connected to a neighboring photodetecting element 4 by the tie-bar 7. The tie-bar 7 is so bent that the pair-forming light-emitting element 3 and photodetecting element 4 face each other on one and the same optical axis. The light-emitting element 3 and photodetecting element 4, sealed in the transparent resin 8 and connected by the tie-bar 7, is inserted into a case 9 built of a nontransparent resin, with element windows 10 facing each other.</p> |
