The device contains a tool electrode (1) which is divided into two electrically insulated regions (2, 3) by means of a boundary (4) which is constructed as a dielectric layer. Each of the electrically insulated regions (2, 3) of the tool electrode (1) is connected to its [sic] circuit of a multicircuit electrical supply source in such a manner that the capability exists of supplying the current independently and in a metered manner. The boundary (4) which separates the electrically insulated regions (2, 3) has the form of a curve which coincides with the curve of the required dressing intensity.
