PURPOSE:To make an external switching circuit unnecessary and to reduce power consumption by resetting an unrequired FF, a code conversion pattern detection circuit, and a conversion code insertion circuit, by providing a selector for switching in a shift register of (n) stages. CONSTITUTION:The shift register 6 of (n) stages is constituted of n-number of FFs FF1-FF5 and the selector 4, and in an ordinary code conversion operation, input data 9 passes through the (n)-number of FFs, and is outputted as output data 11. However, when no code conversion circuit is operated, the input data 9 passes through the selector 4 via the FF1, and is outputted from the FF5. At this time, the flip-flops FF2 and FF3, the code conversion pattern detection circuit 7, and the conversion code insertion circuit 6 are operated separately from a conversion operation, and by resetting them by using a switching signal 10, their operation are disabled then, the power consumption can be reduced. Thus, by providing the selector 4 for the switching, it is possible to make the external switching circuit unnecessary and to reduce the power consumption by resetting the FF2-FF3 and the circuits 7 and 8.
