PURPOSE:To realize the evaluation of performance of a measured laser rod by knowing the correlation of a laser output value with transmittance by a method wherein a transmittance of a rod is measured on the basis of the transmittance of a standard rod in a prescribed wave range, whereby the performance of a YAG laser can be estimated through the measured value. CONSTITUTION:Two Nd:TAG laser rods are provided respectively at a sample luminous flux 5 side and a reference luminous flux 4 side in parallel with each other and equally in distance to a detector 6 in a spectrophotometer sample chamber, of which both end faces are optically polished. A standard rod 2 is provided at the sample luminous flux 5 side and on the other hand, a basic rod 1 is provided at the reference luminous flux 4 side, where a background is removed, namely, the transmittance of the standard rod 2 is set to be always 100%. Next, basic rod 1 and a rod being measured are placed in parallel with each other for the measurement of transmittance in a prescribed wave range to check the difference between the two transmittances. By these processes, the continuous absorption of waves 200-400 nm in length independent on Nd is relatively evalulated with ease through the difference of the standard rod from the measured rod in transmittance, thereby a performance of the measured rod can be evaluated through the correlation between a transmittance and a laser output. |
