Active carbon prodn. from agricultural residues

Process comprises (a) thermal pre-treatment of agricultural residues, esp. cereal straw, at 100-500 deg.C, pref. in an inert atmos., with heating rate of 1-20 deg.C per minute, followed by (b) chemical activation with an activating agent, also at various temps. and heating rates of 1-20 deg.C per minute.
