PURPOSE:To avoid abnormal condition precisely as well as to prevent a fuel pump from overheating, by detecting an energizing current in the fuel pump, and when current-energization trouble is detected, stopping the fuel pump, while making a detector perform its warning action. CONSTITUTION:In a controller C, controlling a fuel pump P according to output of an oil level detector S, an abnormal condition detecting device 7 and an oil level control circuit 13 are provided. In this abnormal condition detecting device 7, there are provided with a current detector 8, detecting an energizing current to the fuel pump P, a lock detector 9, judging that the fuel pump P is locked when the detected current goes beyond the specified value, and a racing detector 10, judging that the fuel pump is raced when the detected current is less than the specified value. And, when either of these detectors outputs a judging signal, a transistor 14 is turned off via a time setting circuit 11 and a judging circuit 12, and the fuel pump P is stopped, while an alarm lamp 49 is made to be lighted.
