The present invention relates to a method for measuring the capacity of the foliage of a crop of plants, in particular sunflower plants, to intercept radiation, in particular visible and near infrared radiation, characterised in that it consists, for at least portion of the crop, in measuring, simultaneously and under the same conditions, the quantity of radiation incident above the foliage and the quantity of radiation transmitted below the foliage by the latter, then in calculating the difference between the results of these two measurements in order to obtain the proportion of radiation intercepted. In the apparatus for implementing this method, the measurements are made using two radiation sensors 1, 2, preferably consisting of photocell panels, and intended to be replaced respectively above and below the foliage C, in parallel positions, a computation means, such as an electronic differential-voltage measurement device, being connected to the outputs of the sensors in order to establish the difference between the data, representing the respective quantities of incident and transmitted radiation, delivered by the two sensors 1, 2. <IMAGE> |
