PURPOSE:To obtain a corrosion-resisting copper alloy excellent in erosion resistance and crevice corrosion resistance, by specifying a composition consisting of Ni, Mn, Fe, Sn and Cu. CONSTITUTION:The corrosion-resisting copper alloy has a composition consisting of, by weight, 9-33% Ni, 0.05-2.5% Mn, 0.05-2.5% Fe, 0.002-Ni/10% Sn, and the balance Cu with inevitable impurities and, in this alloy, crevice erosion resistance of Cu-Ni alloy is maintained. Among the above-mentioned components of the copper alloy, when incorporated by the prescribed quantity, Sn is mixed with the oxide formed on the copper-alloy surface to transform the crystal form of Ni oxide and lower the natural cathode potential so as to improve crevice corrosion resistance. By using this copper alloy, the service life of heat- transfer pipe, etc., for distilling plant can be prolonged.
