PURPOSE:To drastically improve the device performance by composing an oscillating width so as to be able to set it anew in the oscillation reversal prohibiting area set over specific section in the groove width direction from the oscillation start point. CONSTITUTION:When a welding torch 2 is stopped at a specific position, CPU 31 operates an oscillation width by reading coordinate from a memory 30 and calculates the value multiplying this arithmetic valve by the fixed value of less than 0-1. About 0.8 is preferrable as the coefficient. The generation of reversal command can be prevented by setting this oscillation width as reversal prohibiting area. With this method, proper welding can be effected even if there be any dislocation between the progressing direction of welding equipment and weld line direction.
