The invention relates to a spindle for a reel, especially for reels of tape (strip) made of cellulosic, metal, plastic or other type of fibrous materials. This spindle for a reel is characterised in that it includes a device 6 for preventing the reel from moving rotationally and translationally on the spindle 1, this device 6 being provided with rapid retraction means 16 in order to fit and unfit the reel easily. The invention will find its usefulness in industry in general, each time it becomes necessary to use reels on a pay-out machine and consequently to cause these reels to unwind. <IMAGE>
