PURPOSE:To obtain a flame-retarded resin compsn. which prevents a flame retarder from being evaporated and has good moldability, by blending a polyphenylene ether resin with an arom. vinyl hydrocarbon resin and a specific phosphorus compd. CONSTITUTION:A resin compsn. contains a polyphenylene ether resin, an arom- vinyl hydrocarbon resin and a phosphorus compd. of formula I. In the formula I, n is 1 or 2; l is 0 or 1-5, R1, and R2 are each a 1-6C alkyl or a group of formula II, R4 is a 1-3C alkyl, and m is 1-5, except the case where both of R1 and R2 are simultaneously alkyl groups, and R3 is a 1-3C alkyl. In the resin compsn., the amount of the phosphorus compd. of formula I is 1-50wt.% and the remainder of the compsn is a resin compsn. consisting of the polyphenylene ether resin and the arom. vinyl hydrocarbon resin. The amount of the polyphenylene ether resin in said resin compsn. is generally 1-99wt.%.
