发明名称 PHOTOCHROMIC FUNCTIONAL ELEMENT
摘要 PURPOSE:To miniaturize a photochromic functional element by switching electric current by the effect of light by causing an addition reaction or a reverse reaction in molecules of polyacetylene or a deriv. thereof. CONSTITUTION:The molecule to be used in the element of this invention comprises electroconductive polyacetylene or an electroconductive deriv. thereof having as side chain an ethylene deriv. residue or acetylene deriv. residue, or electroconductive polyacetylene or its deriv mixed with ethylene deriv. or acetylene deriv. The electroconductivity of the polyacetylene or its deriv. is varied by causing an addition reaction in the molecules of polyacetylene or its deriv. by irradiating the molecules with light having a specified wavelength, and causing on one hand a reverse reaction of the molecules having been subjected to the addition reaction by irradiating the molecules with light having a different wavelength. When a polyacetylene film 3 formed between an electrode 1 and 2 is irradiated with light having a specified wavelength (hnu1) an addition reaction is caused in the polyacetylene film inhibiting generation of electric current due to retardation of electroconductivity of the polyacetylene film 3. On the other hand, electric current is generated due to recovery of the electroconductivity of the polyacetylene film when the film is irradiated with light having a different wavelength (hnu2) causing a reverse reaction. Thus, the element is miniaturized.
