摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the cooling efficiency of an engine to make it possible to reduce the capacity of a radiator by shifting the gear change point characteristics of an automatic transmission to low speed side when the state of the engine shifts to predetermined high temperature state in AT (automatic transmission) vehicles. CONSTITUTION:When a shift lever in an AT vehicle is put in D range, a control unit performs an automatic gear change according to a predetermined gear change program by the signals of a speed sensor 7 and a throttle sensor 8. And in response to an engine cooling water temperature TW detected by a water temperature sensor 6 and output from a knocking sensing means 9, while in the state of TW>=TH (predetermined value on high temperature side) and when knocking occurs, gear change point characteristics is shifted to low speed side so that a shift solenoid 10 may be driven to perform a shift. Accordingly, when the engine generates a large amount of heat, the number of revolution of a fan increases to improve the cooling efficiency of the engine. Thereby, it becomes possible to make the displacement of a radiator in a compact size.
