The process comprises electrolytic deposition of porous nickel on a sheet or wire form base, using electrolyte contg. nickel and zinc chlorides, boric acid, sodium lauryl sulphate, and sodium saccharine. The deposition at 58-62 deg.C and pH=3.2-3.6 has a current density applied in five stages: 0.2, 0.6, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 A/dm2. The electrodes, after washing undergo selective dissolving of the zinc in alkaline soln., with decrease in the anodic and cathodic overvoltages of the alkali electrolysis process.
