PURPOSE:To apply a sealing agent without generating contamination on a substrate, by using a dispenser having a discharge port whose longitudinal and lateral sizes are different and whose end part is positioned in the center of a revolving axis, and changing the application width by rotating the dispenser. CONSTITUTION:A data of an application pattern is inputted in advance, a substrate 15 of a liquid crystal display element is set to a substrate fixing table 16, and a position control of a dispenser 13 is executed by using X axis, Y axis and Z axis driving devices 8-10 and a motor 11 for theta rotation. Subsequently, the application is executed by discharging a sealing agent 13b from a discharge port 13c of a nozzle part 14. In this case, by controlling the theta rotation so that the discharge port 13c becomes vertical to the moving direction on an X axis and Y axis plane of the dispenser 13, the application can be executed by a uniform application width. The application width can be controlled by rotating the discharge port 13c by a prescribed angle by the motor 11 for thetarotation against the advance direction of the dispenser 13. In such a way, it does not occur that the part to which the application is not executed is contaminated.
