PURPOSE:To improve the recovery efficiency of heat, by installing a booster pump, a boiler, a heat exchanger, a receiver and an expansion valve in a circulating passage of cooling water in consecutive order at the time of recovering it as hot water or steam upon utilization of heat of the cooling water for a gas engine driving a generator. CONSTITUTION:A cooling water system for a gas engine 2 driving a generator 1 is constituted to a closed circuit where cooling water is forcedly circulated by a circulating pump 7. In this case, in a cooling water pipe 5 in a range from an engine jacket outlet 3 to the circulating pump 7, there are provided a booster pump 15, a boiler 16, a heat exchanger 17, a receiver 18 and an expansion valve 19, in consecutive order. And, a feed water pipe 11 in which cooling water out of a feed water pump 10 flows is piped to the receiver 18 and the heat exchanger 17 in order, effecting heat exchange between the pipe and the cooling water, and hot water or steam is made so as to be secured by this heat exchange. In addition, an interspace between both upper stream sides of the booster pump 15 and the circulating pump 7 is connected with a short- circuit pipeline 20 fitted with a radiator 21 to be cooled by a fan 22.
