The video recorder has a count pulse generator avoiding count pulses in synchronism with the rotation of the video head and a second generator providing noise confirmation pulses. Both these sets of pulses are fed to a processor, together with pulses obtained from the video drum, to allow detection of the error between the vertical scanning of the FM video signal and the noise position in the produced signal. The slow motion and stationary image device controls the tape device mechanism in accordance with the obtained error so that the noise position lies between the vertical scanning period.
