PURPOSE:To prevent leakage of light even if copying is executed by opening an original cover by disposing a device for detecting the rear end of an original to the position forward of a position where the original is irradiated in the moving direction of said device. CONSTITUTION:A control circuit 5 executes the next cycle if a cover switch 9 is open when a user pushes a copy switch 10. Namely, a copy lamp 2 is turned on and a driving signal is outputted to a driving circuit 12 for a moving device to drive the moving device for the irradiation position. An LED 4a which is the device for detecting the rear end of the original is then turned on and the output of a phototransistor Tr 4b is monitored to find the rear end of the original. The circuit 5 turns off the lamp 2 upon lapse of the prescribed time after the detection when the rear end 1a of the original is detected. The leakage of the light to the outside of the original region is thereby prevented even if the copying is executed while the original cover is held open. Since a black solid state is not attained in regions except the original region, the waste of a toner is eliminated. |
