NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R<1> is H or lower alkyl; R<2> is OH, OR<3>, SR<3> or NR<4>R<5>; R<3>-R<5> are lower alkenyl, lower alkynyl, cycloalkyl or (substituted)phenyl or benzyl; R<3> may be alkyl or lower alkoxyalkyl, R<4> and R<5> may be H, lower alkyl which may have halogen, CN, OH or alkoxy as substituent group, OH or lower alkoxy, R<4> and R<5> may together form a 5-6-membered ring; X is halogen, CF3, OCF3 or SCF3; A is CH or N; m is 1 or 2; n is integer of 1-5]. EXAMPLE:[4-Nitro-1-(2,3,4-trichlorophenyl)pyrazol-5-yl]-2-propionic acid methyl ester. USE:A herbicide. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by nitrating a compound of formula II and reacting the resultant compound of formula III with a compound of formula IV.
