PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain a highly stereoregular polymer in high yield and in stabilized processes, by (co)polymerization of olefin(s) in the presence of a highly active catalyst of outstanding activity persistence prepared using a specific ether compound as the external electron donor. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer can be obtained by (co)polymerization of olefin(s) in the presence of a catalyst prepared from (A) a highly active catalytic component comprising (i) Mg component (e.g. magnesium halide), (ii) Ti component (e.g. TiCl4), (iii) halogen and (iv) an electron donor (e.g. dimethyl phthalate), (B) an organoaluminum compound (e.g. trimethylaluminum) and (C) an external electron donor, i.e., an ether compound of formula I (R<1>-R<4> are each 1-7C aliphatic hydrocarbon; where R<3> may be H) or formula II (R<5> is divalent group similar to R<3>; R<6> is the same as R<4>) (e.g., tert-butylmethyl ether).
